D0 Cogne

Arrival at the ‘Miramonti 4 * hotel & spa in Cogne, in order to be able to enjoy moments of relaxation before your 4-day raid. We recommend that you arrive not too late in order to be able to enjoy strolling through this typical village of the Aosta Valley and taste the local gastronomy.

D1 Cogne – Refuge Sella (2579m)

Meet with your mountain guide around 10 a.m. for a final briefing before your getaway. The departure for the ascent to the refuge will take place at 1 p.m. at the latest. Elevation gain approx. + 900m.

D2 Refuge Sella – Gran Serra (3552m) – Refuge Sberna (3401m) – Refuge Chabod (2710m)

Long stage with 2 climbs planned. Ascent of + 1000m to reach the top of the Gran Serra. Descent via the Timorion glacier to then go up on the Gran Neyron glacier, to the Sberna refuge, then descent to the Chabod refuge. Elevation gain approx. + 1600m.

D3 Refuge Chabod – Gran Paradiso (4061m) – Refuge Vittorio Emanuele (2719m)

Queen stage of this high road, with the ascent of Gran-Paradiso. The summit is reached with a few climbing steps, roped, before the descent to the Vittorio Emanuele refuge. Elevation gain + 1350m.

• Variants J2 and J3: 2 evenings at Refuge Sella, and climb D3 to Col della Nera or Col de la Rossa

Your mountain guide

• In Cogne, we are used to working with independent UIAGM mountain guides from the region. We will send you the name and contact details of your guide, when making the final reservation or at the latest the day before your arrival at the hotel.

• Your guide will contact you by phone the day before your arrival to arrange your meeting, which will take place the morning after your arrival (2 ^th day). The final schedule and program will be agreed with the latter, depending on, conditions, of your desires, of your level and the evaluation of the various parameters by your guide

Prerequisites

• Be a good off-piste skier
• Have a regular training in sealskin and be able to cover a vertical drop of + 1500m.
• Adapted clothing and equipment ( see list of necessary equipment )
