D1 Vex – Dixence (taxi) – Arolla

This trekking stage will take you from Val d’Hérémence to Val d’Hérens . It starts at Grande Dixence, the highest gravity dam in the world, and one of the pride of Valais.

After a brief transfer by car, a cable car climb will take you to the crown of the dam, at 2365 m. You will then follow the Lac des Dix in order to get used to your new activity for the next 4 days: hiking.

You will then rise in an increasingly mineral universe to reach the Riedmatten pass which separates the 2 valleys and will allow you to enjoy a magnificent landscape on the surrounding mountains. During the descent, you will gradually regain contact with the plant world, especially through the splendid forest of arolla which has given its name to Arolla.

Included

  • 1 night in a superior double room
  • Breakfast buffet
  • 3-course evening meal
  • Picnic for the next day
  • Dixence cable car lift pass
  • Transfer to the Dixence dam
  • Luggage transport

D2 Arolla – La Sage or Les Haudères

In complete contrast to your 1 time step, the heights give way to pastures and picturesque villages.

The trail will take you to “Lac Bleu”, a magical place ideal for a break. Then it will take you through the mountain pastures of Etoile and Niva, above by Evolène , in which you may have the chance to meet the famous wrestling cows of the Val d’Hérens. You will also enjoy a splendid panorama on the Dent-Blanche and the Matterhorn, the most famous mountains of Valais.

Do not hesitate to ask your guide, passionate about geology, what are the fascinating characteristics of the place. You will thus be guided from the African plate to the European one.

Included

  • 1 night in a superior double room
  • Buffet breakfast with fresh products
  • 3-course evening meal
  • Picnic for the next day
  • 1 welcome drink & local products
  • Free access to the jacuzzi (by reservation)

D3 Les Haudères / La Sage – Cabane des Becs de Bosson

You will pass through the different mountain pastures of Val d’Hérens , known among others for the cow of the Hérens breed, protagonist of the famous queen fights of Valais and the Aosta Valley, as well as for their production of raclette cheese.

The Pas de Lona will take you from Val d’Hérens to Val d’Anniviers, where you will enjoy a magnificent setting that will continue until you arrive at the refuge, at 2985 m. The panorama is grandiose, with a 360 ° view of the Rhône Valley, the Bernese Alps, Mont-Blanc, as well as the 4000 m of the Valais Alps, including the imperial crown. In the event of a clear sky, we advise you to spend some time on the terrace of your refuge to contemplate the sunset or the starry sky of this paradise of flora and fauna!

You can gain a few hundred meters of vertical drop in the morning, thanks to the taxi, if necessary.

Included

  • Night in one of the dormitories dedicated to families in the Bec des Bossons hut, with a max of 4 people per room – possibility of bivouac – please take note of the anti-covid measures on the refuge site https://www.cabanedesbecs.ch/fr

A taxi will be waiting for you in Nax, and will bring you back to your car in Vex.
