PROGRAM

J1 Chandolin – Hotel Weisshorn

Departure by taxi in the morning from Nendaz to reach Chandolin. From this village of the Anniversary Valley, you will begin the ascent through the forest, to then reach the pastures of Chandolin, and then the Illhorn, located at 2700m, which offers a spectacular view. It’s a little tour worth it. Slight descent and path on the hillside to finally reach the Weisshorn hotel, located at 2337m, on the foothills of Bec de Nava. An alternative route is possible from the Moiry dam, via Zinal, if you prefer to recover your route at the point of arrival last year.

13.5 km / + 1160m / -790m / 5h20 walk

D2 Hotel Weisshorn – Oberems

Soft start for this 2nd day, with a trail first on the side and then slightly uphill to your pass, the Meidpass, at 2767m. Truly breathtaking view of the 4000m of the Alps, above the deserted grassy slopes. From the pass, the valley of Turtmann gradually comes to you, with a first stage along a mountain lake, the Meidsee. Then, the path will descend on the side towards the Rhône Valley to take you to Oberems, at 1400m. Stopover in a nice structure (reserved for you for this purpose) where you will be welcomed with an aperitif on the terrace. Possible variant to be confirmed.

D3 Oberems – Gruben – Grächen

After 10 ‘by taxi, you will start your hike in Gruben, at the bottom of the Turtmann Tal. You will zigzag up to the Augsbordpass, then descend to the Matterhorn valley, to St-Niklaus, on a route that is always impressive from a panoramic point of view. Re-climb to Grächen, on foot or by taxi, where you can also relax in the spa of your hotel.

D4 Grächen – Saas-Fee

Another 10 ‘taxi will save you 2 precious hours for this last long stage of the hike. Then, the gondola will take you a little higher to join your route. A magnificent panoramic path, at times quite vertiginous, will take you to discover the Saas valley, with arrival in Saas-Fee.

For these last 2 evenings, you will be staying at the Walliserhof, a prestigious 5 * resort in the resort, with a spa of over 2100m, for a gentle recovery of your strength.

An aperitif-briefing meeting with your mountain guide (s) will take place at 6 p.m., to prepare for the next day, and to distribute technical equipment (crampons, harnesses, etc.). If you have your own tech gear, we recommend that you take it and check it out with your guide.

D5 Saas-Fee – Allalinhorn 4027m – Saas-Fee

Thanks to the Alpine metro, you can quickly gain altitude to Mittelalin at 3450m. 600m of ascent await you in this glacial atmosphere, in the heart of the 4000m of Valais. The ascent is easy, and looks more like a glacier hike, apart from a few technical passages (crevasses) which will depend on the conditions in this season. A guide for max 4 people is provided to accompany you on this adventure.

If the weather does not allow this ascent, an alternative program will be offered for this last day.

Your mountain guide

• Anita Stadelmann, passionate about skiing, hiking and mountain biking with many years of experience, will accompany you for this hike.
• An aperitif-briefing around 6 p.m. the day before your departure with your mountain guide. The latter or Rock up will also contact you the day before your arrival in Vex, in order to check with you the last details and confirm the meeting place and time.

Prerequisites

• Good physical condition is necessary. Indeed, you must be able to walk for 4 days with a small bag, around 6 hours and 1000 to 1500 m of elevation / day
• The habit of hiking in the mountains is a plus.
